Xylan is a fluoropolymer-based industrial coating. It is a thin film coating, used for reducing the friction, non-sticking, and improving wear resistance. The application of non-stick cookware is due to Xylan coating but most of its use in the oil and gas sector and automotive sector.
There are some of its properties such as its tensile strength is 4000-5000 psi, Impact strength is 50%, hardness is 60-90 HB, Coefficient of Friction is 0.15-0.35 static, abrasion resistance is less than 15mg, dielectric strength is 1400 volts per mil, temperature range is -100°F to 500°F maximum, water absorption is more than 0.03%, thickness is 0.0008”-0.002” and salt spray resistance is excellent while chemical resistance is good. Additionally, it is helpful as a protection from corrosion.
